Photo Tour - Downtown / Financial District
Downtown / Financial District
The downtown and financial districts are the fastest moving parts of Boston, from the abundant shopping in "Downtown Crossing," to high power financing of area bank giants. But this is also a place of history. With landmarks such as the old state house, globe corner bookstore, and more.

The original chapel was built in 1688. The structure we see today was constructed around the original structure in 1754. It was the first Anglican church in Boston.

Built in 1865, the Old City Hall is a National Historic Landmark. Today the center of political activity is the new City Hall located at Government Center and the Old City Hall is occupied by the Maison Robert Restaurant.

The second oldest church in Boston, built in 1729 this National Historic Landmark was the site of the Old South Church, until it moved to the New Old South Church location in the Copley Square in the Backbay.

This thirty story tower remains one of the most unique structures in Boston

Built around 1711, this housed an apothecary shop. In 1828 the Old Corner Bookstore opened in this building and helped to establish the long legacy of literary excellence in Boston.

"The temple of liberty" as it is called was built in 1713 and is also a National Historic Landmark. Today it is the home of the Bostonian Society which maintains a museum featuring exhibits of different historical Boston themes.
